    Default Illegal immigrants leaving Arizona

Now here is one way to eliminate illegal immigrants in the USA.
If more states adopted what Arizona is doing, there would be fewer illegal immigrants.
Arizona is doing something that the federal government won't do.

    Then vote for Ron Paul!!

Strange, but there are federal laws and many states have laws about companies that hire illegal aliens.
The problem is that they are not enforced or enforced in such a haphazard way that big to small companies get away with it.
See the big dustup on the company that Mitt Romney used (he fired them) to do his lawn work.

It's a big problem over here in the UK. Believe it or not we're only a small country - we struggle enough to cope with the influx of economic migrants from the EU and genuine asylum seekers without people creeping in in the back of fruit trucks. Another irritating factor is that they already passed through a dozen safe European nations just to get to the UK - the perceived land of milk and honey. Plus it takes that long to process these people that most of them successfully argue in court that they actually have a right to residency.

The UK is all arse over tit at the moment.

Ok, first off, I believe that our economy relies on illegal immigrants, and that it would more or less collapse without them. (Note:The entire southern economy has never had to survive without slaves, indentured servants, or illegal immigrants; one just replaced the other as the previous one became less feasible)

However, more importantly, this line chilled me.

Regardless of how you feel about immigrants, is that really why we want them leaving the country? That sounds just terrible to me.

    Your economics are bad!

Yes, it would be great to see them all go.
Whether out of fear or anything else.

I know for a fact, as I am in that class, that these illegal immigrants can get MORE out of social security every month than I and any other LEGAL AMERICAN can!
I worked all my life just to have the government set it so that illegals can get MORE than me?

    That is bad!!!!

If you're going to say my economics are bad, do please explain why a bit more. But alright, I'll bite.

Maybe we should be fixing how we handle the illegal immigrants, and not fixing their presence in the first place.

Beyond that, before you get complaining of money, think about it. How much money do you think you'll lose if illegals are no longer picking food? When the companies are suddenly having to pay minimum wage, give benefits, handle insurance (oh yeah, and they will never find enough workers). The price that food and other items illegals are involved in will shoot through the roof. Making that whole social security thing seem like pennies.

    One Last Point
You talk of Social Security, and how you paid into it your whole life, so why should they get it? Try my generation. I'm college-age right now. We are not going to have ANY Social Security whatsoever. No one even pretends that we will. And yet we still pay in, knowing we will never get any reward from it.
    Why is it like that?
Because the older generation never cared enough to fix it. Since hey, it won't affect them! They'll still get their social security.
So forgive me if I don't shed a tear for you over the illegal immigrants taking your hard-earned cash you pay into Social Security. I have the illegal immigrants and the entire baby-boomer generation doing that for me.

Oh yeah, my Super Last Point
The whole thing is pretty moot, because Immigrants, as far as I know, do not get social security. If they had a social security number they would be legal. Do you mean welfare?

that is quite some strict punishments. maybe now we can threaten to report businesses for not treating us correctly. "oh you don't want to honor your company's price matching policy? how's about I call up and report you for having illegal immigrant workers?"

If they don't monitor their company's price matching policy, try the Better Business Bureau.

Now with less jail time than extortion!

    Best check with social security.
Illegal or not, they can draw on ss!!!!
ANd a heck of a lot do!
They do not need a ss number.
It is some quirk of the government where since they are working, blah blah blah without a card or a legal card, they should be able to draw out.

Okay, end of my end of this as obviously you are a liberal and gosh knows what they are doing to our country.

I'm sorry to be blunt, but perhaps you could address why my generation should pay into social security, with the entire baby boomer generation doing to us what you complain of the illegals doing to you?
And btw, I'm socially liberal, with conservative economic tendencies(ish). I believe that most gov't programs are in need of elimination. However, I believe that mostly military programs(and the war on drugs) should be cut, not social ones.

However, I do not want to address my political tendencies here. That's for another thread. Please answer my first question?

UK Weighs New Immigration Restrictions , Britain Proposes Forcing Residents To Pay Deposit On Foreign Family Visits - CBS News

Interesting and maybe of some value to the US to do the same.

PS...this ss thing is about illegal aliens, not boomers.
That is an entirely different subject, and one which I am with you.
Again, it is the government messing with us.
Heck, I, because I am on a government pension, and because the government likes to screw with us, can not draw ss!
    Call the pension offset provision.
And there, both parties, agree not to mess with that one!

hmm ok. Cool. This conversation is chilling out a little.
Now, I know it's about aliens, and not boomers, but what I'm saying is that I have a hard time worrying about a few illegal aliens who keep food prices(which are already pretty high) to a managable level just because they get a few reduced SS benefits out of it, when the SS system is already busted beyond repair. If you think about it, from my generation's perspective, it'd be possible to support the illegals more than the legitimate claims to SS. I actually GET something out of the illegals.

I guess the point is that like them or not, we need them. Kicking out a few extra bucks is worth it.

Not everything illegal gets ya chucked in prison.
And once again, you have to acknowledge they're necessary from an economic perspective.
They don't do much in Jail, and it'd be REALLY expensive to keep em in there. Might as well keep em workin ;-)

If they want to work in our country, then they can do it the legal way!
It is still, despite what you think and say, wrong to have illegals here working.

    Send them all home.

And let them apply from their home country to get a work visa, etc to come here and work legally.

They are not NECESSARY by any means...will it make the economy die a for a while? probably...but I don't care...it'll bounce back ...

I'll give ya that not everything illegal gets ya chucked in prison...but you go to court, and you have to get some sort of punishment...and in the end, you are either in prison, or your 'illegal' action is done and over with...

so to fit the role, they either need to be in prison, deported, or become a citizen...it's not hard to become an American citizen..it's just a lengthly process...and laziness is the only excuse for staying an illegal...and i have no respect for laziness...

Politicians in this country are so weak now...everything has to be so politically correct...when half of it isn't anyway...

last time I check, ignoring illegal actions (being an illegal in this country is an illegal action ) isn't very political...

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing wrong with people immigrating to this great country. What I have a problem with is people that are here illegally and are a drain on our country. People should be paid a fair wage (not under-paid) and they should pay taxes. But even before all that, they should go through the appropriate legal way of getting into our country.

I'm 1/2 Canadian and 1/2 American (born in Canada, American by blood) and I still had to go through due process to prove my American citizenship, so should everyone else.

Plus the government dumbed us down.
Now got to have dual language.

Gee....when my grandparents came to America, they HAD to learn english!
Now, the illegals don't even have to learn english, they can get everything handed to them in mexican.

Just plain stupid how our so called elected officials, with backing from liberals and the aclu, are giving our country to the illegals.

last time I check, ignoring illegal actions (being an illegal in this country is an illegal action ) isn't very political...
I think it would do huge damage. Skyrocketing food/labor costs aside. The south has NEVER operated without some kind of cheap labor. Think about it. Through the years: Slaves->Indentured Servants->New Immigrants(Pre-Minimum Wage)->Illegal Immigrants(Post minimum-wage).

And it is hard to become a citizen. You need someone to vouch for you, you need a job lined up, you need some marketable skill(aside from the labor illegals do), and we have a max # per year! God forbid these people want to go home to see their families during the non-growing season.

And I feel ya on the politically correct crap. If I have to listen to one more politician pussy-foot around creationalism or pretend that the "war on christmas" is legitimate..ARGH! Speak your mind, not the mind of whoever you want the votes from. Hopefully, they'll follow.

There are good reasons for having a max # immigrants per year. Just a few are, for one it's to control how fast people come into this country. Another reason for going through the proper process is to screen out people who have diseases from entering this country.

the argument can go on and on in 20 different ways...the simple fact is that they are illegal...and should be dealt with as such...that is the constitutional truth...and can't be argued with...and we need to do something about it...there are way too many 'non-enforced' laws in this country...

I'm not saying we should baby them. I don't think they're entitled to SS, welfare, or anything of the sort. I just happen to believe if they wanna run their arses over the border to do some cheap labor for a bit, and can somehow survive on that, be my guest. If we catch you, we'll kick you out. Ok.
That said, I don't think we should go through extravagant effort to find them. Where we are now is quite a nice medium.

I don't think we should devote tons of effort to finding them either...but I do think we should put forth a little effort...

i.e..it's not a lot of effort to go grab a jail bus, drive up to the corner gas station, and collect all the ones standing there at 6-7am in the morning waiting for the lawn companies to come pick them up ...

Try to catch em after they catch sight of the jail bus though, and you've got yourself a lot more effort

I had fun the other day...I'm in the military on Honor Guard right now (I present military honors at retired funerals, etc)...and we were on our way to a funeral...10 of us in a 15 passenger van (one of us was a Security Forces...who happened to bring his badge with him.)

we pulled up to the corner by a gas station at a light (where lots of them hang out in the morning) and some of them thought since we were waiting there we wanted some workers and started approaching the car...

Our resident Security Forces guy wanted to know what would happen...so he stuck his badge in the window...and ya...that crowd disappeared FAST...

The problem is they do use our medical centers for free since they can't afford them, they go to our schools for free, etc. They are a drain on our society, and what they do earn they send a lot of it back to their families in other countries. If they wanted to be a productive member of our country they need to become legal, earn a proper income and spend their money here.

No need for extravagant methods to find them.
Allow our police to stop them on the roads, pick them up at the street corners, etc.
Allow our police and federal officials to enter work places and grab them.

How is it that every damn cow and calf in our country is tagged out and easily found to the farm, etc.
But we can not keep track of illegals?

I really don't think we need to track illegal aliens down. Just start enforcing the laws. Fine companies that hire illegals, make it so difficult to live here as an illegal that they will leave. If they stay and get into trouble, then go after them.

exactly...we don't need to find the illegals that much, we just need to scare the people that employ them.

We also need to stop the government from issuing H1B Visa's. There are enough workers in the US, the problem is companies are trying to cut their spending, so they don't pay as much as they used to which is why they are having a hard time filling positions.
