As of last night, gas was $2.949 down the street.

Yeah, distances are not as great in Europe.
Look at the distance the Germans had to go to eliminate France in WWII.

sure, but the one i left for this post ;
Is well deserved. No need to remove it.
---------------
Distances are farther here in Canada. Distance has nothing to do with it anyways. We pay 30 to 40% more, AND, the majority of the oil and gas you burn in the US is coming from Canada. Middle east oil comes 3rd after Canada and Mexico.
We pay more here because the gov taxes fuel more. And in Europe they tax the hell out of it. They purposely make it more expensive in order to curb demand. In Canada the fuel taxes are used to build and maintain roads and highways which are more expensive here due to larger distances and harsher winters. Its not so much about trying to curb demand like it is in europe but there might be a little bit of that in the tax too.
Frankly, US prices at the gasoline pumps are still too low, all things considered.

You forgot one thing in your formula. Canada might have just as far of distances, however they also have less people per road to pay for themThe US has a huge population, plus longer distances. The population helps pay the prices for roads down a bit, however the distances makes us use more than such places like Europe.
Our vehicles again also get worse fuel economy, blame it on us, the government, etc but they are things to take into consideration.
As of yesterday 3.17 per gallon here.
I had to pay £1-06.99/ litre yesterday for unleaded. My car only does 12.5 MPG :sangry:
A very fast one![]()
Apparently the previous owner (friend of mine) managed to get it down to 6mpg on the track, so I almost feel good about it...almost.
well our gas is at $3.40/gallon now imagine what i pay to fill 2 gas tanks as my work truck has 2 tanks and most the time i need both

Went to the other end of Iowa today.
Filled up going there and coming back for $2.929 pg.
Oh the van gets between 19.6 to 21.5 per gallon.
On this trip, averages 20.9.

And that is with the 10% ethanol blend.
Which they say robs about 10 to 15% on mileage.

i haven't filled up in 3 days...think it's about $2.95 at the corner station now though...i get between 26-28 mpg so it's decent for me at the moment![]()
