Thread: Who won the Iowa Primaries

Hey guys, does anyone know who won the Iowa primaries for president by chance. I like to keep up with these things.

Hasn't happened yet

No primary, just the caucus.

Which my wife and I will be going to one tonight here.
She on the demo side.
Me on the republican side.

Go RP!!!!
Seems to be quite a few people in this small town going with him.
Will find out the true interest for him tonight.

His poll numbers move up day by day here.
ANd across the country.
The buzz is usually about the kids (college kids, etc) and how they support him.
Not much is said about the parents of the kids, and the grandparents of the kids.

Problem with RP is he doesn't have a one liner of the same old crap everyone else has. He needs a few minutes and people to actually listen to his message. Something the media usually does not give him!

If he can hit third he should/will get more time!

Yes, RP does need a bit of time, but he speaks of things that the other candidates avoid like the plague.

I want to like someone. But I can't find anyone taking against the big corps except Edwards.

RP's position on no tax on tips seems condescending in absence of such a statement. Perhaps I missed it?

I don't see anything on the trade balance either. I need to find someone who is interested in those things first and foremost.

Next or maybe equal is the borders. Not just the Mexican border. And all illegal aliens.

Then maybe the war. But without manufacturing, the war will go away eventually anyway.

I think I'd like to see Hillary or Obama on the democrat side, I'm sorry but I don't think America is ready for that big of a change. Then again, might be the the change we are waiting for to bright about the beginning of the end :P J/k

Well, if I voted democratic, no doubt, I would vote Obama. Hillary first off, is someone I can't trust, and I think she is crazy. If I were to vote republican, chances are my vote would go to Edwards...I just pray Hillary doesn't win!!!!!

His position is getting completely rid of income tax, not just on tips.

As far as I know he wants totally free trade, not the current model that makes imbalances.

I for the most part like his stance on the border and illegal aliens. He is one of the toughest on the issue out of the candidates. He wants to do more than a symbolic border though, he wants to get rid of the welfare state that drives so many illegals to come here in the first place. He also wants to get rid of birth right citizenship.

Then maybe the war. But without manufacturing, the war will go away eventually anyway.

He is for bringing the troops home immediately. One thing I do question him on, but I am against the war in any event.

I am not the best to speak of his positions but from my knowledge this is a general overview

The Full Fair trade thing seems like a long shot though just as much and balanced trade.

Yes it is a long shot, but he's 'from my knowledge' consistantly voted no against anything that did not level the playing field to be actually 'fair'

Nobody can do everything, but having someone who stands for certain things definitely is a step in the right direction and better than having someone stand for the complete opposite.

Totally agree.

Another reason RP is a nice option, he brings people from all sides. I know he's a long shot for the republican spot, however if he could win it he'd have a great chance of beating Clinton. More so than other repubs IMHO.

Oh, I just noticed, lol, i am not totally stupid, when I said Edwards was republican, I was thinknin of McCain, thats who my republican vot would go to personally.

I hope the rest of the USA is smarter than the damn Iowans who actually got Obama as number 1 demo in the caucuses and Huckabee as number 1 repub in the caucuses!~~!

But Ron Paul polled out at 10%.

RP didn't do as well as I would have liked, however Iowa did give RP more than the 4% most claim he has. Plus Iowa isn't a direct vote and it's a closed caucas putting more meaning into than 10% number IMHO 'from my limited knowledge of how you do it there'

Ahh, yay!!! Barak won the democratic primary. I like Huckabee too. I like McCain better then Huckabee, but whatever...at least Barak won...

Looks like Iowa made it clear. No more business as usual, we want new people in Washington DC.

I don't agree with their first choices, but they have set up a nice playing field with decent players in front and the old status quo in the back.

We agree. Hopefully we can get Edwards. I just plain like the guy. I like his stance and I like that he has balls. I don't get the impression that he is a tow the liner either.

Like I said, this crap where two families have run our country for 3 decades must be stopped. That is of the utmost importance.

Yep but now you have to watch what you say. Hell Gtech at DP continues to bring up old quotes that RP supposedly made. They are poorly worded, especially in todays time. However going back to when they were made I do not see them racist, but god forbid you bring up a race.

True racism is hate, not simply laying out statistical facts.

True. But, I don't think that'll change until we get rid of the 'career' politician. That was one of the few things I agreed with when Jesse Ventura went into office. He stood on the basis that citizens, not politicians, should serve in government.

The sad thing is, regular folks don't want to get caught up in the political crap in Washington so they put off their civic duty. Then we're stuck with people with agendas rather than people with a purpose.
