Thread: Soldier's Angels

Hi Everyone,
Whether you support the war in the Middle East or not the Military really needs support. Soldier's Angels is an organization that gets soldiers adopted by people all over the country. I have adopted 2 soldiers. All I do is promise to send 1 letter a week and at least 1 care package a month. I also help when there are 'alerts' for specific platoons needing help.

Today I received an email from the groups leading stating that there are MANY soldier's waiting to be adopted. For many soldiers this is their first deployment and the transition is very difficult. From my personal experience, my soldiers are so happy and thankful with with things like baby wipes and candy.

If anyone is interested in adopting a soldier please visit Soldier's Angels and click on the Adopt a Soldier button. The motto of the site is "Let no Soldier go Unloved" You can also submit a soldier.

What a great idea

One of my the soldier's that I adopted is on his way back home! Great news!!!!

Neat idea! Instead of just sending money to a charity where 10-20% goes to administration costs, you get to send the box straight to the troops?

Good stuff, whether you believe in the occupation of iraq, or not, always support the troops!

if i have money, i will also send

we have a friend who at the moment is in Hawaii, he is on his way to Afghanistan and he's only 20. His name is Alec and i worry about him. he's a good kid. we hope to see him through this.

when the Vietnam war was grinding down, there were many demonstrations against the war. i had just finished AIT and was walking across the Boston Commons on my way to the State House, there was an anti-war demonstration going on. i remember the nasty looks i got from the demonstrators, yes, i was in uniform. i remember hearing stories how veterans were spit at and cursed, name calling etc.

these young men and women are putting there lives on the line for us.

Whether or not you agree with what's going on in the Middle East shouldn't be a issue, Troops don't choose where their governments send them. They are the ones who have to suffer hardship and deserve our respect and admiration..

Oh my goodness ABSOLUTELY!!! When they come home they suffer too, adjusting to a 'normal' life.

one of the soldier's i support is 20 also. I worry constantly for her. you should nominate Alec to Soldier's Angels. They accept everyone. the motto is let no soldier go unloved. My soldier's tell me that knowing that they are supported (no just by family) really helps them get through hard times.

I'm praying Alec stays safe and out of harms way. I will continue to pray that. (that's what we pray for my soldiers, and all the soldiers actually)

Most of the guys I know are in the Royal Anglians and all seam to coping pretty well. Most of them have previously completed tours in Northern Ireland so I think they are quite accustomed to the pressures of hostile enviroments, Not that that changes anything Im sure some of them will find it difficult adjusting to civilian life after basically living on there wits end for months at a time..

I have another Soldier at home! We are so happy she is stateside!
BTW, Alec is prayed for every night (almost, my daughter makes sure we add him to the list!)
