I hate it when they put that message at the top but no article...now for the waiting game of getting more details...

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body.

Mr. Ledger, a native of Perth, Australia, won acclaim for his role as a co-star in “Brokeback Mountain”, a 2005 film. The film, based on a short story by Annie Proulx about two cowboys who fall in love, won critical acclaim. Reviewing the film in The New York Times, the critic Stephen Holden wrote, “Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a great screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.”

Mr. Ledger met the actress Michelle Williams while filming ‘’Brokeback Mountain.” The two actors fell into a very public romance. They had a daughter, Matilda Rose, who was born on Oct. 28, 2005. They moved to Brooklyn, but then separated last year.

Calls by The New York Times to Mara Buxbaum, a publicist for Mr. Ledger, and Steve Alexander, the actor’s agent, were not immediately returned this afternoon.

No way. How sad. He was spectacular.

If as they way it was drugs, he brought it upon himself.

Too bad. I liked a lot of the roles he played.

Batman is what killed him. To prepare for the role as the Joker he stayed in a motel by himself for a month and developed insomnia. He had perscription sleeping pill bottles near his body. 2+2.

tell it. I get the same way whenever I see River Phoenix in the Indiana Jones movie..what a waste

It will be very interesting to see what happens with the movie. How will it be promoted etc.

Brandon Lee died during the last days of filming The Crow by a gun accident.

Bruce Lee completed filming Enter The Dragon but died 3 weeks before it was released.

They were filming a gun scene and one of the guns were real and killed Brandon Lee. That was crazy.

Production on the film Heath Ledger was working on before his untimely death, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, has officially been shutdown. The film has been haulted, and people are being layed off. This report comes from US Weekly. No word on what will become of the footage already shot.

Warner Brothers has stated they are taking a cautious approach to the marketing campaign for The Dark Knight:

the gun in holywood movies are always real. it is the bullets that are "fake". They aren't fake bullets either, they are real bullets with the metal end taken out and replaced with a piece of cardboard. The gunpowder inside the bullet is real and can be adjusted for louder sounds, brighter flashes, and smoke. In BL's case a bullet was used that was not completely modified. Part of the metal was still in there, and that is what killed him.

River Phoenix was awesome? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he die of shooting heroin and speed at a club? That doesn't sound like an awesome human.

I was referring to Bruce and Brandon Lee.

River Phoenix was a very good actor. It was ashame that his life/career was cut so short.

Even more of a shame that it was cut so short because of his own recklessness and stupidity. :evil:

We aren't supposed to judge others. We have no idea what he went through and never will. May he rest in peace.

if we aren't supposed to judge then we shouldn't be saying he was such a good guy just as much as we shouldn't say he was a bad guy.
