Dubai plans to build the world's largest arch bridge by 2012.

- It's one mile long and 670 feet tall.
- It will have 12 lanes for traffic.
- It will cost 817 million dollars.
- The design has Sheikh Mohammed's official stamp of approval.
- The bridge will carry more than 2,000 vehicles per hour in each direction.
- A metro line will run across the middle.
- Construction begins in March, with a slated completion date of 2012.

Dubai may be one of the most forward thinking cities of the world in terms of architecture, but it's a shame, as part of the UAE, it's a repressive society in general.

dubai is all about the tourism, if they are repressive I guess they aren't into chick tourists.

Not to condone the use of illegal drugs, but..

This happened to an Egyptian who smoked a hashish cigarette the day before he flew to the UAE. He was sentenced to four years in jail by a court in the emirate of Fujairah. Prescription painkillers can also be illegal, so be sure to carry your doctor’s prescription with you if traveling with drugs containing codeine or other narcotic-like substances."

lol, i was mistaken by the title of the post.
Did you see the World project, i recently saw the making and its just amazing to be there once in a lifetime.

I'm not surprised if that country can build amazing things like that.
They are well-developed and one of the rich country in the world.
