Pakistan's attempts to block access to video-sharing site YouTube have been blamed for an almost global blackout of the site on Sunday.

The BBC reported that to block Pakistan's citizens from accessing YouTube, Pakistan Telecom "hijacked" the web server address of the popular video site.

Pakistan unblocked youtube.

Lots of countries block youtube off and on.
Depends on the videos found there.
Disrespect islam, the prophet, etc and yes, the muslim countries start blocking.
After all, it is okay for the muslim countries to make fun of other religions, and to kill others who are not muslims, but god forbid any other religion or country do so to their religion!

Pakistan is headed down a very difficult road at the moment. Hopefully they can get back on track.

Pakistan has important things to worry about then a site being blocked! :1967:

EU Trade Commission is having discussions now about countries that ban parts or all of the internet.
They are considering this a restraint of trade and may seek sanctions againts countries who do so, plus companies who also do so to curry favor with countries.
Think China and google-yahoo-microsoft.

Pakistan taking steps to ban sites where content can be viewed that promotes things like democracy and freedom of speech is part and parcel of their biggest and most important problems right now.
