Clinton supporter Geraldine Ferraro: “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

Former Democratic congresswoman Ferraro was the only woman ever to be selected by a major political party for the position of vice president of the United States and is currently serving on Hillary Clinton’s finance committee.

I think she makes sense.. I don't think America would be listening as hard if Obama were a white man but what do YOU think? I think Hillary would still have a run for her money if Obama were a woman however.

I cracked up when I read that. I mean really. Not only is that racist, but please, Hillary wouldn't be where she's at if she wasn't a woman. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black (no pun intended).

I think Hillary is riding Bill's coattails.. and I don't think she would be where she is for any other reason.

Obama is a white man culturally. He hardly knew his black father and almost his entire upbringing is by his white mother. In fact, some commentators have pointed out that he rarely mentions his mother.

I don't find it racist one bit, if it is I guess every time any other race states such things as we've had enough white men in office, he's only there because he's white, if he were 'other race' he would have harder times, etc, etc the same stuff I hear every day on the news, all of that is racist as well

hehe, why is it wrong for a white man to even reference race? Black people in our country seem to not face any problems when they do so.

possibly the fact that he gets the vast majority of the black vote, even though most I have witnessed being interviewed can not say one good thing about him

This happens in other cases of course as well, some will not vote for a woman, some will not vote for anyone if they are not an old white male, it however is facts of the nature.

Heard that on the radio yesterday. I was really trying hard to figure out what the big deal was with what she said because I just assumed she was African-American. I then realized that she is white. Isn't that sad that Geraldine would not be in hot-watter if she had said that as a black woman?

No! Hiliary wouldn't be where she is now if her husband is not Bill Clinton. She cannot be compared to Margaret Thatcher or Angela Merkel who made it on their own entirely.

There was a recent survey which said that 35% of Americans thinks that America is not ready for a female president, whereras only 20% thinks that it is not ready for a black president.
