Thread: Google Risks Muslim Backlash By Hosting Fitna

Google is currently hosting controversial film about Islam Fitna.

The film has made tech headlines after Network Solutions suspended the site the film was to debut on, then Live Leak was forced to pull it following serious threats against the company from Muslims unhappy with the film. Live Leak’s explanation video above.

The film, ripped from Live Leak, is now available on Google Video here in full, and can also be found on YouTube. Warning on the film: there are graphic scenes in it.

What Google does now will be an interesting test for a company that claims “do no evil” as its company mantra. The video is hosted in the US, and we presume with part or full support of the creators of the film negating any copyright considerations, so ultimately it will be up to Google to decide between free speech and global jihad.

I would love to see google stand up and be counted!
Not give in to the muslims of the world who on one hand would love to see all infidels killed, and on the other profess to be peaceful.

I haven't seen the video and therefore cannot comment on it specifically. But there is a difference between the right of free speech and the right to broadcast material that is patently, false, malicious, and defammatory in nature with a view to incite hatred and violence.

As far as I know, Islam allows the individual to interpret the Koran with far greated lattitude than most Christian churches. The interpretation of Jihad "holy war" is highly contentious. Major Jihad mainly deals with the individual himself. It is the minor jihad that may be interpretated by some as waging a holy was against others.

This more aggressive interpretation really came during the Crusades when the attrocities committed by Christians against Muslims far outweighted those committed by Muslims against Christians. Also, one must also remember that far more attrocities have been committed by Christians against Jews than Muslims against Jews.

I just hope that this episode will pass peacefully.
