People from overseas often think that Australia is full of deadly creatures, but news this weeks might cement that myth

ONE of the world's deadliest snakes caused mayhem after it was found warming itself under a popcorn machine in a Northern Territory cinema - less than a metre from teenage staff.

It took one week to catch the 60cm western brown.

The snake, which staff had thought was harmless, was first seen by a security guard as it made its way up the front ramp of the CMAX cinema in Palmerston. It disappeared through a vent.

Staff believed it was a harmless tree snake. They did not see it again until Friday night - when they discovered it living in the cinema's candy bar.

AN OUTBACK Queensland hospital will close temporarily to deal with a poisonous redback spider infestation after concerns they could fall from the ceiling on to patient beds.

Pest controllers were brought in to fumigate the 10-bed multipurpose health service at Baralaba - a town of about 290 people an hour's drive from Moura, in central Queensland.

Fumigator Bruce Dekker, of CQ Propest Services, said the wooden hospital's ceiling was infested with hundreds of redbacks.

"What we're concerned about is that we may get redbacks dropping through some of the air-conditioning ducting or through . . . exhaust fans," he said. "We're concerned that some of these openings are above the patients' beds."

We have lots of snakes; cobras & pythons in India.
But not at my place, coz i am in a city and they are scared to come here

We have our share of deadly denizens: black widows, brown recluse, rattlers, scorpions.. but Australia doesn't seem to have many things that AREN'T poisonous!

I absolutely hate snakes. They have no arms, legs, wings, fins yet they still move. They don't scrunch up like worms, they just go. It is against nature!

I'm not real keen on them myself. Where I used to live, I had 3+ hectares (7.5 acres) of bush and used to see at least one each summer. If it was too close to the house, I would kill it.

EXACTLY!!! that page says what I said...they just move...go up to a wall or lay and floor and see if you can move just from your stomach muscles. you can't! and neither should these freaks.

Many snakes aren't deadly

Only good snake is a dead snake easy way to kill them is with hot water. I can handle snakes but spider are evil, they run towards you and not away..........

I like spiders cos they lay in wait for ants if they decide to come snooping around inside

I hate those pesky little insects, i had a snake in my back yard as well.

you are right but before doing that we must save our life from snakes and if found snake in house or room then urgently do some thing which save us from snakes.
