Exclamation Obama and McCain Found Tied Up This Weekend

This weekend finds candidates Barack Obama and John McCain tied up according to the latest Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Sunday’s numbers show Barack Obama and John McCain each attracting 43% of the vote. When "leaners" are included, the two candidates are tied at 46%. For most of the past month-and-a-half, Obama has led McCain by approximately five percentage points.

Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.

I'm wondering if the recent news that the Bush administration may begin moving troops out of Iraq before elections might not further take some wind out of Obama's sails.

I think this race is really gonna be close, I don't think anyone can really be considered an underdog.

The admin and reps always criticize Obama on his plans and call him naive and inexperienced. But then they end up doing what he said would be a good idea...

I think the probable outcome would be that America is not ready for a black president but will elect Obama anyway.

It wil be very interesting to see what happens afterwards....

I'm intrigued by the continued usage of the phrase "not ready for a black president." It brings up images of Michael Scott (of "The Office") on Sensitivity Training Day.

I think it would be a great barrier to break down but I also believe that the US isn't yet ready for a black president nor a woman for president.
The Democrats got it wrong twice this time.
McCain will win based on that concept alone.

The country is pretty evenly split: (R) and (D).
Last two elections tell that story well.
Now, the democrats have to convince every single voter who voted for them last time to overlook the fact that they have a black man leading the party, along with any other shortcomings Obama has. I don't think they'll be able to do it. And I think the final numbers will show that. I don't think this election in November will be as close as the last two were.

I just regret any apparent implication these are really the best two choices we had to offer. If this is the best the major parties can do we oughta replace the current nomination process with two darts and a phone book. At least it'd eliminate one year of bullshit primary campaigning.

In response to this void I've been planning to run as an independent. My 2004 campaign probably failed when I didn't come out with my mandatory breast implant program soon enough. [Yeah, I know, deep down I'm shallow.]

This year I'm approaching it via the blogosphere. Insert shameless political plug here. Aside from the bumper siticker there isn't a single respectable political thought to be found at my place... which is to say I've adopted the same strategy used by the major parties. If you can't beat 'em, plagiarize.

I might add that I'll hold true to my 2004 promise that if you contribute to my campaign I'll spend every dime of the money on beer and loose women, whereas those other two candidates would probably just waste it.

But I think America is even less ready for a 72 year old first term president. So my cause is that Obama will scrape through in the end. However, he may find his wishes and orders thwarted at every level throughout the country. So race relations may get worse even if Obama wins the race.

If he wins, eventually Obama will have to make an unpopular decision about something.. things never change. Certainly not in 4 to 8 years.. oh wait, Bush destroyed our American liberties in that time frame. I stand corrected.
