It shows how sick this world is getting. I guess that is why I live in the woods with few people.

Wonder what made him go off the deep end?

I've read some of the comments and it seems to have stirred up a lot of argument.

It's pretty shocking that something like this could happen. It's even more shocking that no one even helped the poor guy. There are 30 people on the bus and not even a single person tried to save him... Sure, some people might get stabbed in the process, however it seems that nobody would risk their own life for a single person.
Most people in that situation if they noticed someone getting stabbed would just be agog, with a weird "is this really happening" feeling. I wouldn't blame anyone on the bus for not stepping in immediately. No matter how much we'd like to be as badass as Batman, when faced with a blade weilding psycho self preservation would kick in to some extent.

in Canada! Everyone running off the bus like a bunch of
chickens. Two men could have helped this guy before he
was decapitated. Says alot about the Canadian Way. Run
    when someone is in trouble.

    What a joke.

I guess its the liberal thing to do.
Just totally bizarre. After the guy was stabbed so many times, the victim was quite likely dead before decapition.

It would have been fruitless because as you stated, he was most likely dead already. So what, they wanted someone unarmed to attack a man with a knife? That is just crazy! Even Canadians are not crazy!

From my experience and knowledge, Canadians tend to be a more peaceful group, they'd sooner have a drink with the stranger beside them than anything else, we're lovers not fighters, so I guess we're not taught violence first.

I remember when a certain airplane was hijacked and all the hijackers had was knives, I've wondered many times why no one did anything, but never once blamed it on a certain group from a certain country being a certain way, it simply didn't cross my mind.

There's many people out there who just have to blame everything on someone, it can't just be that "shit happens". If I had been on that bus you think I'd be going towards a mad man? I'd be trying to climb out the damn window, I ain't stupid, but yeah I am Canadian, oh woe is me.

It's a select few kids who still live at home with mom and seem to have a bug up their ass about us.
Throw in a pinch of hero complex and you get some Rambos who would have killed everyone on the bus to save everyone on the bus.

As many have already said in those comments, nobody knows for sure how they'd react until it's time to react.

Unless someone is trained to intervene they are awestruck when events unfold and it does not occur to intervene until after the fact. This happened very quickly. The reaction was slow.

Decapitation seems barbaric in the west but yet is common in the east.

I am glad only one person was killed. He could have killed several.

Just an update on this case, the family has filed a lawsuit against the bus line and the federal government that claims they didn't ensure passenger safety.

In the wake of this horrific incident, Greyhound is pulling their latest ad campaign.

The ad's tag line was "There's a reason you've never heard of 'bus rage."'

Greyhound spokeswoman Abby Wambaugh said Wednesday a billboard and some tunnel posters near a bus terminal in Toronto are still up and would be removed later in the day.

"Greyhound knows how important it is to get these removed and we are doing everything possible," Wambaugh said. "This is something that we immediately asked to be done last week, realizing that these could be offensive."
    ...
As horrified passengers fled the bus, Li severed McLean's head, displaying it to some of the passengers outside the bus, witnesses said.

A police officer at the scene reported seeing the attacker hacking off pieces of the victim's body and eating them, according to a police report.

Wambaugh said the ads only appeared in Canada and that some in Ontario and western Canada have already been removed.
