BBC NEWS | Wales | Soldier is refused room at hotel
A British Army soldier on sick leave from Afghanistan has been refused accommodation in a Woking hotel.
The Metro Hotel told Cpl Tomos Stringer that it was company policy not to accept military personnel.
Cpl Stringer, from North Wales, had been visiting an injured colleague nearby when he was forced to make an overnight stay in Woking. He was turned away from The Metro after presenting his Army ID card at the reception desk.
Due to the lateness of the hour Cpl Stringer had little option but to sleep in his car.
Stories like this really, really, really grind my gears. It's a sad indictment of Britain that our service personnel can not wear uniform in some towns and cities without facing a barrage of abuse.
Despicable.
