NEW YORK: A new book based on taped interviews with Michael Jackson reveals the star thought he looked like “a lizard” and “didn’t want to grow old”.

The Michael Jackson Tapes, written by the star’s former adviser Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, provides first-hand detail about the reclusive singer’s life.

In one conversation, Jackson says: “I don’t want to grow old. I never want to look in the mirror and see that.”

The star died in June, aged 50. His death is being treated as homicide.

Speaking to US TV show Today on Friday, Boteach said his overwhelming impression of the star had been one of “indescribable pain”.

“He lost the will to live,” he added. “I think he was just going through the motions of life toward the end.”

Boteach recorded 30 hours of interviews with Jackson nine years ago. The tapes reveal the star talking about his fear of aging, and being hit with an electric cord by his father.

“He was rough,” the star says. “The way he would beat you, you know, was hard.

“He would make you strip nude first. He would oil you down. It would be a whole ritual. He would oil you down so when the flip of the ironing cord hit you, you know... it was just like dying.”

The description "indescribable pain" doesn't surprise me. Massive success robbed him of his childhood, and if what he says about his old man is true, he was severely emotionally and physically abused as well.

Also, there was no way he could have normal, healthy relationships with anyone because they all saw the celebrity and not the person. Everyone was either in awe of him, or trying to take advantage of him. No wonder he was so wretched and screwed up!

I don't want to grow old either!

He was a great person and the only one Michael Jakson in the world.I think everybody feels pity fro him. He has his will never to get old, but i think it's everyone's wish!

Some people can't be imagined being old, I think Michael is one of them. Anility is not for him.

He should have got over the beatings and not let it bother him so much.
He chose the fame and there are lots of famous people who live normal lives. He chose to be odd and liked been odd just look at leave me alone video, He done it for money.
Liz Taylor lives a normal life. Diana Ross lives a normal life.
He should have just led a more normal life and got over his beatings.

Well, he's no different than most people today....

we live in a society that's obsessed with youth, and people who'd go through countless surgical procedures to look young, and who likes to behave like teenagers when they are almost reaching 25, behave like they were 25 when they are reaching their 40's, etcetera.

I think even if Michael dont want to grow old he wanted to live as long as possible like we all!

can't blame him if he don't want to grow old. We are motivated by the consumeristic world. If you open the TV what you'll see all those advertisement to look younger etc and our uncontrolled consumeristic attitude always give in because each of us wanted to look beautiful and young. ( NO one wants to die ugly I believe. )

I dare say he didn't judging by all the work he had done. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, you can only delay the inevitable shamone.

Thanks for sharing this information, may be this is why he completed screen surgery for several times. Actually i didn't see him as old man for once, he was ever youth. I want to follow him.
