Thread: Common 70's Prank = Sexual Offender?

Streaking, a common prank in the 1970's, may result in a teen being labeled a sexual offender in this recent case from Utah..

PLEASANT GROVE -

A Pleasant Grove teen might face jail time after streaking during the Pleasant Grove High School homecoming pageant.

An 18-year-old student at Pleasant Grove High school is drawing attention from police for running across the stage nude in the school's auditorium.

The teen's name is not being released until an arrest has been made. The man will be charged with lewdness in the presence of a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

Police the charge of lewdness in the presence of a minor stems from the fact that many young children were present in the audience of roughly 800 people.

If the teen is convicted, it is possible he will have to register as a sex offender because he is an adult.

(I think people generally tend to be a bit too uptight these days regarding such things. I think if it had happened in Europe, they'd have had a good laugh and gone on.)

The PC police are at it again. God forbid someone see a naked body.. OMG my eyes are bleeding from seeing one.

Really ridiculous almost as bad as state troopers attempting to storm a house because some kid was playing with a toy gun in the backseat of a car and some stupid mofo thought it was a real gun so he called the police. Most kids these days, for better or worse, are far from innocent.. my neighbor's 8 yr old granddaughter came across a tube of lube at her grandma's apartment the other day and knew exactly what it was and what it was used for.. I think all the sexual repression actually has the opposite effect. Kids that don't have healthy access to certain subject matter are gonna seek it out on their own.

My thoughts? Only in Utah...

The problem is it happened in Utah, having lived there, it makes sense. It is another world out there unlike th world we live in elsewhere :-)

Some of my favorite Utah laws:

Alcohol may not be sold during an emergency.

It is illegal to cause a catastrophe.

Women may not swear.

Daylight must be visible between partners on a dance floor.

Man, that catastrophe one is funny as hell!!!

As a parent, I would be very upset about this. I refer to online sources to know where the sexual predators are in my neighborhood and I don't want to red flag a teenager's house when all they did was get caught playing a silly prank.

When I lived there it was even the most simplest things that annoyed me. School schedules had to be reconfigured to not have any school activities on Mondays because that was "Family night" for the Mo's, Mo's go out of school wicked early for church school and also the school pledge included Mormon doctrine in it. I was just beside myself the total disregard for church vs state out there. The best was, no law will be present to the people until the church approved it, WTF!

his wee wee was visible to kids! that is terrible! I hope he gets the death penalty.

76-6-105. Causing a catastrophe.
(1) Any person who by explosion, fire, flood, avalanche, collapse of a building, release of poison gas, radioactive material, or other harmful or destructive force or substance, or by any other means, causes a widespread injury or damage to persons or property is guilty of causing a catastrophe.

(2) Causing a catastrophe is a felony of the second degree if the person causes it knowingly and a class A misdemeanor if caused recklessly.

Well, its an offense to hunt them so even if you didn't catch one it would be a crime... but if you happen to just stumble across a whale, in the Utah Desert and happen to have your harpoon then that would be ok :P
