Default Yahoo won't take MS $45bn takeover offer

I guess the $44bn just wasn't enough :uhoh:

    From BBC News:

Yahoo has reportedly decided to reject Microsoft's unsolicited takeover offer.
Several newspapers and news agencies say Yahoo's board will on Monday dismiss the $44.6bn (£22.9bn) offer as being inadequate.

When it was made, Microsoft's $31 a share offer was 62% above the level at which Yahoo's shares were trading.

Yahoo's shares closed on Friday at $29.20, which may suggest doubt that the offer will be successful or that a higher price will be offered.

A source quoted by the Wall Street Journal said that Yahoo's board would be unlikely to consider anything below $40 per share.

    hmmm, interesting.

Will Yahoo shares plummet back down to where they were at $19, pre MS offer, or jump up to just under $40. We'll see what happens on Monday when the markets open.

Microsoft said it's too bad they wouldn't take their offer, but I think they'll end up doing their best to get their hands on Yahoo anyway.

Maybe they will accept a different offer sometime in the future.

I don't care whether they accept MicroSoft's offer, but I am worried that they are being tied in with Google. This will extend Google's dominance and I think that this makes a much better anti-trust case.

Microsoft has now hired some law firm to handle the legal aspects once they buy out Yahoo.
It is going to happen, MS people from Gates on down have said so.

It's inevitable for Yahoo to be taken over by Microsoft. It's only a matter of time.

But I think this is a carefully planned move by Microsoft, with this Yahoo share prices will surely drop the they will come back with an even lower bid. The news is already in the BBC.

But Ballmer said he concluded that pursuing a so-called proxy battle was "not sensible."

"Our discussions with you have led us to conclude that, in the interim, you would take steps that would make Yahoo undesirable as an acquisition," Ballmer wrote to Yang.

But Yahoo hasn't necessarily faded from Microsoft's crosshairs.

The software maker conceivably could renew its bid later this year if Yahoo can't bounce back from more than two years of financial lethargy.

Should Yahoo's turnaround efforts flop, many analysts believe the company's stock would sink into the mid-teens and open the door for another takeover offer that would be more difficult to rebuff.

For now, at least, Microsoft appears to believe it has enough internal weapons to chip away at Google's dominance of the booming Internet ad market.

To be honest, if i where Yahoo I wouldn't take it.
I know it's a lot, but i'd go for a bit more $60bill, ASWELL as a spot working for MSN.

But I don't know much about this so I'm probably way out, :P

Yahoo CEO suggests Microsoft should buy the company after Google ad deal falls apart.

To this day, I believe the best thing for Microsoft to do is to buy Yahoo," Yang said Wednesday evening at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco.

Ballmer should wait until Yahoo's stock go down further before they strike.

I should have started a new thread about it then :3082:

It's just that I don't want to make another one about the Yahoo and Microsoft deal so I dig this one instead, before Yahoo don't want the deal now they're suggesting that Microsoft should buy them. See this thread is not yet resolved or over and to prove it I posted that update.

I don't think so why would MS bother to buy Yahoo when they already have on their arsenal the Yahoo search executive.

    Microsoft Confirms Yahoo Hire

"We are very pleased to confirm that Sean Suchter will be joining Microsoft as the GM of our Silicon Valley Search Technology Center, working on Live Search," Microsoft search head Satya Nadella said in a statement. Suchter, who starts work December 22, will report to Harry Shum, corporate vice president of Search Product Development. Microsoft confirms Yahoo hire | Microsoft - CNET News
I know Suchter is not all that is on Yahoo search core but imagine someone having the ideas of how Yahoo algorithm runs working for MS.
