I operate an online store. When we update customers orders an email goes to the customer confirming the different stages. Yahoo mail account holders do not seem to be receiving these mails.
What could be causing this?

A lot of system emails get sent to yahoo junk folder. Have them check there and mark it as "not junk".
this seems to be a big problem for Yahoo I recommend to switch to some other e-mail account
If they haven't received it let your customer check there junk folder or there spam folder.
Yes, Yahoo mail has been "messing up" for quite some time. I have several friends who use it and they often do not get my mails and my mails sometimes get returned as undeliverable. These people do have me in their address books and usually when I resend they get it. Also, it goes the other way around too, I do not receive their emails a lot of the time.
I recommend stop using Yahoo mail
As Autumn and Aimhigh said, have them check their junk folders as mail often lands there. Another thing you can do is tell them to add where the mail is coming from to their address book, even show little tutorial images to show those who don't know how to.
Yahoo is notorious for falsely flagging emails, my servers get messages bounced back from yahoo constantly.
I have same problem in my site
It is maybe that all mails went to junk folder.Also try sending mail to yourself for test.
You should notify your customers of the problem and remind them to check the junk folder. Or recommend them use another email service.
