Question Will Yahoo Just Disappear, or will Bing Adopt Yahoo's Database and search results?

I want to know if Bing will be doing it's own thing or will Bing actually be smart and absorb yahoo's search index database and simply just add it to the bing search index.

Well being adding anything to the bing search index, since yahoo has already subcomed to Bing and gave up it's search index and algorithm Bing should obligate Yahoo to atleast Clean up it's massive index by getting rid of all the things bing already considers junk prior to absorbing the index.

This way the over data transfer process will go faster due to fewer bits of data needing to be added to the index. Also Bing could use this opportunity to do something that Yahoo has not done in a long time actually hyperdrive yahoo crawl bot and let it do it's damn job for once and actually crawl the internet extensively.

This extensive boost in yahoo bot would scan through pages which it has not gone through in years and actually update itself. This crucial update will not only benefit webmasters worldwide, but it will also clean up the index by removing pages which have either changed, no longer work, bad links, poor quality and simply put spam.

Bing should be wanting to have this done in order not to infect BING search results with the slow crawling junk yahoo has provided site explorer and search results users with for years.

    Much Thanks,

Yahoo will continue to be a player in the industry. Bing is too small in its market share (though Microsoft is certainly capable overall) of overtaking yahoo. The truth is, Google needs both of these entities in order for it to have a viable market for competition. Going nowhere.

I just dont think Bing has the powerhouse capability to even be what yahoo was ten years ago. The brand seems lacking, perhaps it is just the taint of microsoft. I agree that yahoo seems to have a strong and solid foundation and I dont think BING (what a stupid name) will take over too much.

As far as I know they will keep the two brands but combine the power of the search technologies.

In my opinion yahoo as a search engine is crap!

Bing has something that yahoo never had....Billions of dollars and Armies of Programmers

Bing's best route would be to adapt Yahoo's Search Algorithm and make it compatible with Bing.

Interesting though your comment, maybe BING is being inadvertently stigmatized by the MICROSOFT BRAND...BING may not be getting the respect that it deserves because it is simply owned by MICROSOFT.

I honestly think that if BING came out as a new startup search engine under a different company name, then people would give it the respect that it truly deserves as a powerhouse and genuine threat to GOOGLE.
