    Thumbs down Death of Yahoo!!!

Yup Yahoo Will Be Dead Pretty Soon.

But everyone keeps saying that it will survive, well it is not. I highly doubt that yahoo will be able to come up with a better search algorithm by the time their contract with MSN is over. They will be so far forgetten about search that they will have moved on... It is true they are no longer investing in search, which means no programmers desiging new search code for yahoo. Bye Bye yahoo. :dozey:

Believe me I am quite vehement about it.:gloomy:

I don't think so that it will be vanished soon because yahoo still have more market value than the msn.

Yes yahoo is more socially relevant than MSN, however in the eyes of Online Search yahoo is already dead out of the water.

They are already decreasing the Online Search Services day by day, site explorer updates are getting slower and slower, and they are firing lots of programmers already

    Exclamation Re: Death of Yahoo!!!

Amazingly though, I read somewhere in an article that even with all of this going on that, just the domain name yahoo.com has a value of 9 million dollars, and that is just the domain name not including any other yahoo property.

    Isn't that crazy?:energetic:

I think it's too much to say that Yahoo will be dead. It has its niche on the market and will continue to work.

perhaps, I may sensationalized it a little bit. But that is what I am trying to emphasize, yahoo itself is the one changing it's niche. Yahoo was the one who decided to back out of the search game.

Yahoo is backing out of the same exact thing that it started as, so it's niche is no longer in search.

Yahoo's new niche will be engaging and interacting personally with it's users. It plans on maybe solidifying this new niche and hopefully getting something out if it, but in the long run people will no longer be using yahoo for search anymore.

Maybe you can use yahoo to search through yahoo profiles, but no real researcher will rely on yahoo for obtaining data.

Believe me don't get me wrong, I love yahoo and am sad to see it go but I have already realized yahoo has been losing interests for year.

Yahoo is one of the best search engines around. Why wouldn't they survive. I guess I don't know what's going on. Is google just taking over???

No, Yahoo search will be powered by Bing.

Yea people may not notice the transition of Yahoo's Search Algorithm to Bing's, because yahoo will still format Bing's search results in it's own way.

Meaning that Although Bing will provide the actual search results, yahoo is free to format, modify and change them around any way that it wants.

So this will definately confuse people into believing that Yahoo Search Engine still exists. It happened with AOL, who is now relying on Google Search Results to display on their AOL pages. I am also sure it will happen to others.

Yahoo is stepping away from the Search Engine game and moving onto other thing, so YES! The Death of Yahoo Search Engine is Encroaching. I am only making a big deal out of it because I am curious to see how the Search Market across the globe will be shaken up once Yahoo Search Engine is gone.

****Just for Clarification, I am talking about Yahoo's Search Engine Dying, which it already is*** I can care less about Yahoo as a company and what other plans they have to stay afloat. Thanks

Depending on who you ask, Yahoo shows up in the top 10 most visited sites. Sometimes first, second, fourth, seventh, but always around the top ten.

It will take a few years yet to kill Yahoo!

Thumbs down Re: Death of Yahoo!!!

Yahoo is trying to change its strategy, by walking away from the search engine market and trying to provide more personal, social and engaging activities online.

However, in my opinion yahoo is done for!

Has anyone been using yahoo messenger and for the past 10 years, its ran by bots. They say they have been collecting IP addresses for years yet nothing is done about it.

    Yahoo mail is spam filled.

Yahoo site explorer, does not update regularly anymore!

Yahoo directory is getting shut down!

Yahoo fired almost all of its programmers!

    Yahoo shut down geocities!

So what the hell is yahoo going to provide people if everything they already have is getting shut down. What new and amazing stuff will they offer if they have no more programmers?

Yahoo will be using bing search engine results and masking them to make the less informed believe that their search results are still Yahoo's!

It is a shame really. I think Yahoo spent too many of its resources on other products when they would have been most successful keeping at the search engine game.

Why would they expand into hosting when clearly their hosting isn't as good as others? The same could be said with e-mail. There is just too many resources allocated to things that they will never be good at.

    we need to support Yahoo

its not good for one search engine to become too powerful

    we need healthy competition.

    Bing is very good too

They do this unknowingly, because yahoo tries to install its own toolbar onto your browser, also changes your home page to yahoo.com.

Many people are unaware that they can unclick the make yahoo my default page option.

download any yahoo software and they try to change every browser setting you have.

Yahoo is 2nd most traffic getter search engine, a big investment, may be you are right, but its not mean that Yahoo disappear from internet , they will definitely try to improve things.
