Thread: Indexing is F'd up

My main store was redesigned 'wonderfully I might add' Anyways yahoo removed the site from it's index almost entirely, leaving only the index and one product category and one instance of the index following like domain.com?s

It then started to add just a couple of the new pages while adding pages that have not been on my domain in YEARS!

I normally do not follow yahoo much, anyone have any idea on how long I could expect Yahoo to take to get rid of these old results and index the current site content?

How is it adding those pages if they're not on your domain? If you don't want them spidered you have to tell it that. As for your question.. I don't know. I guess we need to do some Yahoo research.

Old pages that at one time were on my domain. It almost looked as if yahoo removed my site totally and put in old data from a previous backup, but a backup that was years old.

This is a punishing tactic used by search engines like google and yahoo, if we go by your words.

What they do is to punish the site owners, they'll dump your recent cache and use older cache, may be 4-5 months older and then prevent the updating for another 3-4 months, so in total you are punished 7-8 months, may be more, depends on how they go about it.

Usually this punishment comes when webmaster tries to arrange or participate in link farms, spamdexing, spider poisoning or any other black hat technique.

At times SEO expert are just too agressive and this may be outcome of the same.

I am not sure abt if it applies to your case, but thats how they punish webmasters unless they plan to ban a particular site altogether.

That makes sense, but they did it because I totally redesigned my site. Every page got changed, went from .html to .php. It almost looks like to me that they threw in an emergency backup until they could recrawl the new pages and reindex them
I dont' really participate in link farms or anything, I buy links but not massive amounts to one site at any given time.

Guess I'll just follow the index and see what happens

Now they kicked the old results out and are back to indexing the index, one product category and an extra index page adding /?S=A after the .php, WTF WTF members

Is this good? Is adding the /?S=A good?

I have no idea truthfully where it got the /?s=A from

What type of url is it adding it to? Like, post a sample url it's showing.
